Story
Hello, my name is Susana and I love to crochet. I started crocheting when I was 7 years old. I learned this craft from my grandmother and then further learned from a close relative who taught me how to read crochet patterns (Thank you, Jessica). I enjoy crocheting amigurumi, which is the Japanese art of making small, stuffed yarn plushies. In the Fall of 2023, I began to sell my handmade plushies and I have enjoyed bringing smiles to the faces of those who I have shared my work with.​ I have also enjoyed teaching younger children to crochet and it brings me joy to know I have started them on their own crochet journeys.

My younger sister, Sonia, has since joined me on my crochet journey and together we are beginning our small business called Soft Sunflower Shop. Our journey began with our shared passion for creating unique and adorable plushies that bring joy to people's lives. We are dedicated to producing handcrafted pieces with love and attention to detail. Each creation is a labor of love, reflecting our commitment to delivering quality and cuteness in every piece we make.
What is Crochet?
Crochet is a needlework technique that involves using a hook to create intricate patterns and designs with yarn or thread. It is a versatile craft that can create a wide range of items, from clothing to home decor and toys. Crochet is a rewarding and enjoyable hobby that allows you to express your creativity and make beautiful items, however, it is a time-consuming craft.

Fun Fact: Knitting is also a similar hobby to crochet but it uses 2 hooks instead of one. Knitting can be machine-made. Crochet, however, remains one of the few crafts that can only be made by human hands.
